Tablet Art: Face Guy
One of the first drawings I did on my new Samsung tablet, using Sketchbook Pro. Totally random image, not very good, but it's part of the learning process.
It’s Plunger Monkey Dynamo Time #30
I really ought to edit this strip to make the word balloons and signs bigger, they're really tough to read. This was when all the panels I was drawing were taking up just a quarterr of a sketchbook page, which made it tough to capture the gestures and details I wanted, as well as
It’s Plunger Monkey Dynamo Time #29
Enter the Carnivorous Desert Tacos...I was starting to realize that I was drawing too small, I wasn't able to get the level of detail I wanted or to work out gestures. A few strips later, I finally started drawing each panel on a larger scale.
Thea: The Little Witch-The Power of Believing
I just finished up my version of the second Little Witch book, which was originally a photo composite. The author, L.S. Gagnon, asked me to do an illustrated version to match my other covers. I actually made my own photo composite, based on Lisi's suggestions, to use as a rough design. I put about 23
Thea: The Little Witch-Into the Forest
After finishing the four covers of the original series for author L.S. Gagnon, she asked me to redo the two covers for her kids book series, which originally featured photo covers. I heavily referenced the photo for this cover, at least for the front as there was no back cover, as the composition and overall
Witch: The Final Chapter Cover Expansion
The original cover for book 4 was fairly comlex because of the number of characters, all of whom had a real world basis that I was trying to capture. The expansion was relatively straight forward comparatively.
Witch: The Secret of the Leaves Cover Expansion
This was actually the first cover I worked on for author L.S. Gagnon, and probably the easiest to expand. As with all the covers, and all my art in general, I see plenty of things I wish I could have done better.
Witch: The Spell Within Cover Expansion
Of the four covers I originally did for author L.S. Gagnon, this was probably my favorite. There wasn't much I wanted to rework in this expansion, I just needed to flesh out the back cover.
Witch: A New Beginning Cover Expansion
Recently, author L.S. Gagnon decided to have me revisit the covers I did for her, expanding them so the image would wrap around to the back cover. This particular cover was one of my least favorite efforts, so returning to it allowed me to go back in and rework the areas I was unhappy with.
It’s Plunger Monkey Dynamo Time #28
The backgrounds for these next several strips were highly inspired by the classic Warner Brothers Wile E. Coyote cartoons. I'm still amazed at their richness in light of their simplicity and abstraction.
It’s Plunger Monkey Dynamo Time #27
Panel 3 is really the first time in the strip that I introduced a little perspective with PMD walking towards the "camera". Up until this point, things have mostly been essentially profile layouts. My complaining about us going off on an adventure unprepared is very true to my personality. I took the Boy Scout
Moleskin Sketch #25 Camp Bell
An awesome old tree at the water front with nice lighting (again, tough to capture because it shifts so fast in the morning). I love the multitude of thick roots and all the texture.
