INKTOBER 2025 Day #23: FIREFLY.

“Even nature’s smallest critters deserve to enjoy the wondrous benefits of a plunger hat.
I’ve always been fascinated by nature. I like observing and learning about all the different shapes and sizes life takes and all the survival strategies they employ. How wild is it that there are animals that produce their own light? When I think about how crazy bioluminescence is, I usually think about deep sea creatures. I kind of forget about fireflies. I remember trying to catch them as a kid, but over the years they kind of fell off my radar until I see one again. Even then, I think it’s neat, but I don’t really stop to think about how amazing it is that they light up. Now that it’s on my mind, as a human, I feel cheated. I want to produce my own light. I’d never have to carry a flashlight or headlamp again when I’m hiking and camping. That would be pretty darn cool.”
