INKTOBER 2025 Day #3: CROWN.

“I think this is only the second time I’ve drawn this character from my yet-to-be-finished graphic novel ‘Revery’. This is King Belain, ruler of the Cobblies and he plays a very critical role in the story. This is a slightly different version from the original concept illustration I did of him. I want him to stand out from the other Cobblies, I want it clear he is a king/ruler, but I don’t want him to be overly ostentatious as the Cobblies are kind of laid back, simple folk. Much of what they wear and build is made from a naturally occurring material in the Cobbliverse that they harvest along the banks of the Dream Wave called Cobble…which is basically the same thing as cob in our world…which is basically just adobe (a mixture of mud, straw, sand, and clay…not a creative digital software giant) but formed and shaped like clay instead of into bricks, resulting in very organic, whimsical structures. King Belain will likely evolve further the closer I get to working on the comic, but I’m kind of happy with the direction I’m going with him (at the moment anyway).”
