INKTOBER 2025 Day #6: PIERCE.

“I don’t know, there’s just something about one of the planet’s squishiest animals choosing to adorn itself with a bunch of hard jewelry and junk that I find funny. I don’t have any piercings myself, and while I don’t object to or judge anyone else for decorating themselves however they wish, I just don’t get it. There’s nothing appealing about it to me. I’d be concerned constantly about things getting snagged on stuff and tearing out, for one. Or closures coming loose and expensive things falling off me. Or one of my macaws grabbing hold of the shiny thing on my face that ‘doesn’t belong there’ and ‘helping’ me out by removing it. I used to wear necklaces, that’s about as close to piercings as I’ll get. A jade circle, an ammonite, a fossilized shark tooth, that kind of thing. I thought it was cool. But I found it a pain to take them off for bed and for workouts (chipping teeth and stabbed eyeballs aren’t fun during ballistic movements) so I eventually gave up on them.”
