INKTOBER 2025 Day #1: MUSTACHE.

“The more I think about it, the weirder it seems to style facial hair, to selectively allow certain parts of it to grow while shaving others. I’m not against it, I just wonder who was the first human to do it and start a trend? Outside of a scraggly goatee comprised of a dozen wiry hairs when I was in my late teens/early twenties that I chose to grow because it was really the only place hair grew on my face, I don’t do any styling of my face fur. I tend to forget it grows when I don’t look at myself in the mirror much, and then I have to hack away at it. I’ve been told I look a lot younger when I’m clean shaven, and my wife doesn’t like beards, so that’s usually the look I go with when I realize my face could remove rust from old metal. My dad has had a mustache forever as far as I know, but it’s such a part of his face I don’t see it as being there. The only time it registers is when I’ve finally remembered my face is getting shaggy and at a certain point in the shaving process I only have a mustache left and I startle myself when I see how much I resemble my dad. Aside from my wife not being a fan, I wonder if I’d be more inclined to style my facial hair if it, you know, actually grew in and make me look like I have mange. I don’t think my face is capable of producing whiskers like PMD’s.”
