INKTOBER 2025 Day #12: SHREDDED.
“Man, don’t you just hate it when you flex so hard your t-shirt shreds?
All right, this one isn’t exactly super original or creative or anything, it was just an excuse for me to practice drawing muscles and anatomy. It does make me stop and reflect a little bit about how I have changed the way I draw PMD over the years, though. In the beginning, he was a very wiry, lanky, lean, little guy. Currently, he’s still lean, but he’s a lot more muscular and defined. Some of that is just because I like drawing muscles, but another side of that is that he’s sort of my alter ego. In addition to being a manifestation of the crazier parts of my brain, I also think he represents some of my better aspects and attributes. I happen to be a workout nerd. When I was younger, I was very skinny and insecure. I discovered exercise as a preteen and have been obsessed ever since. I’ve got more muscle on me these days, but I’m also not quite as lean. I think PMD is sometimes subconsciously a visual representation of my ideal athletic build (though with a little less muscle and with slightly different proportions than me, of course). Or maybe I’m just over thinking this whole thing, as monkeys, especially chimpanzees, are pretty jacked.”
