Project Description

This winter a I went along with my son and a group of scouts on an extreme campout. They have this award program in which the boys earn beads that they can wear as part of their uniform for attending certain trips and activities. One of the more challenging beads to earn is the clear bead, because you have to camp over night outside in sub-zero temperatures. It’s a great testament to the Boy Scout motto: Be Prepared. The night we went out the temps hit -21 degrees F with a wind chill between -35 and -40 degrees F. It was awesome! The outgoing scoutmaster asked if I could come up with a pocket card to award to the boys (along with the bead), similar to what they earn for their Tote n’ Chip, and I was happy to oblige.
