Project Description

INKTOBER 52 2023 Day #23: POWER.

Monkey math? Once upon a time, I was pretty good at math. Good enough to advance ahead of my classmates at one point. My teacher gave me different assignments, and when one or two of my peers started catching up, my teacher tasked me with teaching them what I was working on. I continued to be strong-ish in math through high school but didn’t continue taking math at all in art school. My current math skills probably aren’t much better than PMD’s, but when forced to remember my previous math prowess when helping my kids with more advanced homework, I have been able to recall the important bits and pieces.

There were a bunch of different directions I could have gone with this prompt. I could have gone with another He-Man homage, or perhaps something comic book superhero related. I probably even could have made something Star Wars work (…”unlimited POWER!”). The math angle (see what I did there?) was just funnier to me, and I figured it would be a more unique take. The composition left me with a lot of blank area on the white board to fill, which was fun. That eyeball guy is a character from It’s Plunger Monkey Dynamo Time (Eyezak is his name). If you’re still in school, and you have some math homework and one of the problems is 5 to the power of 4…draw a plunger. Then send me a picture. Preferably with teacher commentary in red pen.
