Project Description

Not to digress and gush too much, but this sketch was done at one of my absolute favorite places: Brigg’s Beach. I essentially grew up there between Memorial Day and Columbus Day every year (as did my dad) up until I moved out of the house. The place has great significance and great memories for myself and my family. Living so far away, just getting down there is challenging, but getting to sit and draw there is almost unheard of. This was one of those very rare moments in which I found myself with some quiet time, the kids were all occupied. This was a plant hanging on the porch of our little cabana…there used to be flowers, but my dad got sick of them dropping petals, so he gave them a haircut. Here’s a photo that’s pretty close to what I was looking at:

The drawing was done in Copic warm grey markers, with a little Copic Multiliner and white Gellyroll pen, in my Toned Tan Strathmore sketch pad.
