INKTOBER 2025 Wrap Up (and a little life catch up)

Hey! Long time, no see. Or something.

Well, I am finally done with Inktober 2025. I usually spill over into November, but I don’t know if I’ve ever spilled over into December. I thouht for sure I was going to be more on schedule heading into October this year. On paper, I should have more time on my hands to spend in the studio. I finally stepped down as scoutmaster of our local scout troop after almost 8 years and 15 total years of volunteering. I’m still registered and help out from time to time, but my weekly commitment is very minimal. Most weeks

LEE’S DRAGONS: PORCUPINE DRAGON

Another year, another dragon. I probably say that every year, but I don’t care. For anyone new or for anyone that doesn’t remember (I don’t assume anyone follows me closely enough to remember these things), many years ago I started a tradition of drawing a dragon for my wife’s birthday that she can use as her PC wallpaper. She sits in front of a monitor all day for work, so this is my attempt to make her often challenging, long, and frustrating days slightly better. Aside from being my best friend and the love of my life and all that,

PMD Arcade Cabinet: A Peak into the PMD Monkeyverse

Now that it’s been a month or so since I finally finished and delivered this project to my brother, I figure it’s time to take a closer look at it for those that wish to indulge my obsessive tendency for details.

To recap, sometime around Thanksgiving 2024, my younger brother told me he, as part of his renewed interest in retro games, purchased a table top arcade cabinet kit that he planned to install the buttons and an old laptop and monitor or something to make an all in one old school gaming machine. He asked if I wanted to provide

Happy Mother’s Day 2025!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers out there, especially my own mother and my wife!

The dragon kids are another year older for my annual Mother’s Day card for my wife. Over the last few years I’ve been forced to start thinking about what I’m going to do for these as the kids get even older (how dare they) and eventually “leave the nest”. So far, I’ve tried to make the theme for each card a reference either to a specific thing we did as a family (a place we went, an adventure we went on) or a general

It’s About Flippin’ Time

Well, only four and a half months late, but I’m finally done with Inktober 52 2024. It’s been a long slog. I was actually staying current with the prompts up until October, when the “regular” Inktober took over. Right after that I had to launch into the standard end of the year/holiday projects and obligations. I tried to catch up despite that, but failed. Then I took on that arcade cabinet project for my brother (if you follow me on social media you’ve seen the progress of that), which I really got carried away with (big surprise), starting in January.

INKTOBER 2024 WRAP UP

Only a full month (plus) late and down a few dozen pens (not really, but I killed quite a few this year), I’m finally done with Inktober 2024. I’m always behind schedule, because that’s how life is and I have this habit of noodling and obsessing over details. In general, though, I do kind of feel like I work faster, but because of that, I think I plan more complicated pieces.

This year felt like I had a lot more interruptions in the studio, which I think predominantly came from my recovery process from thumb surgery (I won’t completely rehash the

LEE’S DRAGONS: SNAIL DRAGON

It’s September, so you know what that means!

Well, okay, maybe you’re new here (and if you are, welcome and thank you! I hope you stick around). My super awesome, supportive (and patient) wife loves dragons. She works in IT, and thus spends a great deal of time stuck in front of a computer monitor. Years ago I had the brilliant idea to start drawing dragons for her birthday that she can use as her wallpaper on her monitor, and an annual tradition was born. The general idea that has developed over the years I will eventually (I hope) turn into

Happy Mother’s Day 2024!

It’s already that time of year again! Time seems to whip by me with annoying speed these days. It should stop that. No matter how poor my concept of the passage of time is, I always make time for my annual Mother’s Day card for my awesome wife. In the grand scheme of things, it’s perhaps too small a gesture, but it’s still a special one from me. It’s a one of a kind, personal, unique expression from me for her, and sharing it publicly gives me an excuse to mention my love and appreciation for her. I suppose that’s

2023 Year in Review

Alright, I’m notoriously bad at grasping the passage of time, but instead of being bewildered that 2023 just ended, I’m a tad surprised that I almost titled this post “2024 Year in Review”. I think that’s the first time I’ve thought more time had passed, rather than less.

Either way, growing up in the 80s and 90s, thinking ahead to anything past the year 2000 always seemed like the future. I mean, yes, literally it was, but I mean some kind of sci-fi, flying cars, robots, teleportation, and computer brain implants utopia kind of future. I suppose there are plenty of things I take

Inktober 2023 Wrap Up

As of November 16, 2023, I finally finished Inktober 2023…only two weeks behind schedule this year. I found this year to be much more challenging, and I think it’s because I’ve been doing Inktober 52 all year long for the first time. I can’t quite classify it as burnout, but definitely a strain on the creative faculties. I struggled with ideas for many of the prompts this year, but in the end, I always managed to come up with something that met my general, self-imposed guidelines: it has to feature Plunger Monkey or something from his universe (the PMDverse?), the
