Project Description

Here’s the finished Willy McEyeballs digital painting. This started as a simple sketch in my moleskin sketchbook, a completely random drawing that took shape as I worked on it. When it was done, I thought Willy and his buddy, Sherman, looked kind of fun and deserving of a full digital painting. Along the way, my brain told me these weren’t two random creatures, but they live in the world of Revery. Somewhere. My brain wasn’t specific. I’m sure it’ll tell me when I need to know, like when I start working on the sequels to Revery…after I finish the first Revery…

I put a lot of work into this piece, especially with the textures. Here’s a few close ups.

Those lovely wrinkle textures mostly came from my knee.

Sherman’s texture came from a brush I made from frog skin.
