Moleskin Sketch #17 Camp Carpenter 2016
Close up of my paracord bracelet, trying to get the volumes and shapes rather than the micro textures on this one.
Moleskin Sketch #16 Camp Carpenter 2016
There's a really nice, big tree at the camp waterfront near the picnic table I frequently sit at while the boys swim. This would be that tree.
Moleskin Sketch #15 Camp Carpenter 2016
There's a really cool post and beam structure at camp called Fort Friendship. I always enjoy hanging out there. This was just one of many interesting, weathered, mortis and tenon connections that my eye landed on.
Moleskin Sketch #14 Camp Carpenter 2016
This leaf cluster was near the "space exploration" program area. I wanted to fill the page and capture the context of the leaves I wanted to focus on.
Moleskin Sketch #13 Camp Carpenter 2016
Another waterfront sketch from Camp Carpenter, this one looking past the swimming area to the view beyond. I tend to spend a lot of time "zooming in" and studying textures, but I need to spend some time trying to capture a wider field of view.
Moleskin Sketch #12 Camp Carpenter 2016
This is my first sketch from Cub Scout Camp Carpenter in 2016. It was a weathered bolt on a picnic table at the waterfront.
Moleskin Sketch #11
My final sketch from the tire shop. I decided to see how far I could push the cartooniness, something I usually struggle with. It was fun.
Moleskin Sketch #10
While still waiting for my van to get new tires, I started flipping through magazines to look for people to draw. I'm not sure who this was, but he showed up in an old photo in an article about the late Muhamed Ali. His face was interesting, it stood out to me.
Moleskin Sketch #9
After the frustrating attempt at the Muhamed Ali portrait, I decided to draw this monk guy. I really need to experiment with different face shapes.
Moleskin Sketch #8
I found myself with several hours to kill in the waiting room while I was getting new tires for my van, so I pulled out my trusty moleskin. This is supposed to be Muhamed Ali referenced from a magazine cover. It was a great photo with a great sense of volume, but I messed this
Moleskin Sketch #7
Another local lake sketch, this was a tree backlit by the slowly setting sun.
Moleskin Sketch #6
Another sketch while sitting at the local lake. I was trying to work on how to represent the essence of a bunch of leaves without drawing all the leaves.
