It’s Plunger Monkey Dynamo Time #22
In addition to Bill Watterson, I've been drawing inspiration from the likes of Frank Cho and Nate Van Dyke. I love what they do with contour lines vs interior/"detail" lines and particularly Nate's brand of creating textures, volumes, and half tones. I'm not fully employing some of what I'm learning yet, but the inspiration

Winding down the Star Wars influence (maybe...).

I'm fairly happy with my hand in panel 3. Who doesn't love a good force choke gag?

I like the sequence of PMD flying through the air and hitting the snow. I'm happy with the gestures and some of the linework. I, like almost always when I'm inking, was trying to keep a vague idea of some classic Calvin and Hobbes strips somewhere in my consciousness, particularly scenes where Hobbes is

I really liked this bit, particularly PMD's "oof" sign lingering in panel as he's Force Pushed away. My "style" is still evolving, and one of the things I started trying to experiment with right around this strip was a little trick thing I picked up from Frank Cho and Nate Van Dyke, which is

The kids found PMD's expression of glee while using his plunger-saber in the last panel to be hilarious. As long as I'm keeping them laughing, I think I'm doing okay.

I'm happy with the flow of this whole lightsaber sequence, for the most part. I still struggle capturing certain details when I pull the "camera" back, though. I've had the idea for PMD's plunger handle igniting as a lightsaber for a while now, and I have a tentative plan to do more with that

The last panel didn't quite turn out like I envisioned it. I think I could have done better with the poses/body language, as well as the inking. I may use this as a jumping off point for a digital painting, though. You know, with all that time I have kicking around.

I'm pretty happy with the flow of the lightsaber battle. The inspiration came from one of Bill Watterson's classic strips of Calvin and Hobbes dancing, just a fluid sequence of movements with no constraining panel boarders. I'm a far cry from Mr. Watterson, but I will still claim him as an influence.
Mother’s Day 2016
This is the 2016 Mother's Day card for my wonderful, amazing wife! I really think all the self-portraits and comic strip work have really improved my overall drawing ability (funny how near daily practice of a skill will do that for you). I think this is probably my best card yet, I really feel like
Tick Bite Toby
A few weeks ago, I found myself sitting in the waiting room of a walk in clinic. A tick had chomped into my knee, somehow unbeknownst to me, a few days prior. The site of the bite got pretty red and started to develop a small ring, which I thought was likely just irritation. However,
