I’ve had griffons and chimeras on the brain recently, there’s the beginnings of a project tumbling around in my brain related to those dreams. I thought it would be fun to come up with my own variants of such creatures, perhaps using different environments for driving their creations. This sketch would be a griffon/chimera that lives in polar regions. He’s pieced together from a polar bear, a snow leopard, an eagle owl/snowy owl, a condor, and an ibex. I am likely going to turn him into a digital painting at some point. He needs some more refinement in terms of anatomy, as well as some fun markings and a bit more “life”. I drew him in my new grey tone sketch book with a ball point pen, warm greyscale Copic markers, and a white Gellyroll pen.
