INKTOBER 2026 Day #2: RELIC.

“Chalk this up to another totally reasonable use for a plunger: a Staff of Ra.

I’m not sure how old I was when I saw Raider’s of the Lost Ark. I don’t think I saw it in a theater, I would have been about 4 years old so probably not. Either way, it’s one of those movies that hit me at the right age and captured my imagination. The idea that there are secrets and treasures hiding all over the world, just waiting for the right adventurer to discover is very compelling. There is a part of me that has always wanted to explore the world and find things, find lost technologies and civilizations, that have been lost to history, things that might reshape our understanding of the timeline of humanity. It’s one of those daydream kind of fantasies with no connection to reality, but that romanticized world of Indiana Jones tracking down ancient artifacts (or relics, I suppose) of historical significance and perhaps fantastical power while punching nazis is a fun little mental escape. I wonder how many people became archaeologists because of Indiana Jones?”
